I've recently bought a June manufactured 2006 2.0 TDI with the BKD engine and according. to my googling, Audi now recommend that the cambelt is changed every 75k. miles (and not the 80k that is in the service book)..which means mine. will need doing in November. What you do is with the three pins installed, Install your new belt. Remove the cam and HP pins removed and the three bolts on the cam and tensioner loose, tension the belt. Tighten the cam and HP bolts. Turn two turns until the crank pin is again a slip fit. Re-tension the belt if the tension is is off. Ok maybe with these new belts it's too soon to tell but I can't imagine Audi taking the decision to change to mileage only intervals lightly. My service book states the cambelts on 1.6 and 2.0 CR tdi's are changed at 133k with no time interval. It is important that you always change your cambelt at the recommended interval. Cambelts for most vehicles need to be changed at 90 000 km. For some vehicles this can vary from every 60 000 km to every 180 000 km. Autoworks recommend changing your cambelt at the manufacturer’s recommended guidelines on mileage and age. .
